WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a foundation based in Cologny in the Swiss canton of Geneva, known primarily for its annual meeting of the same name, which takes place every year in Davos in the canton of Graubünden. It brings together leading international economists, politicians, intellectuals and journalists to discuss current global issues. These include not only economic but also health and environmental policy. The Forum also organizes the Annual Meeting of Chinese New Champions as well as various regional meetings during the year. It was founded in 1971 by Klaus Schwab in Switzerland. In addition to the annual meetings, the forum publishes research reports. Its members engage in various industry-specific initiatives.
